Job summary

Big Science Sweden seeks a Scientist Electron Spectrometer Lab to develop and operate our photoelectron spectroscopy setup, including a spherical analyser, and to contribute to ARPES studies.

You will support user experiments at the European XFEL and collaborate on projects, using SEM, FIB, optical microscopy, and other characterization methods.

This role offers opportunities to advance instrumentation and to work with international teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with photoelectron spectroscopy and ARPES.
• Ability to operate and maintain advanced lab instruments.
• Willingness to work in shifts to support user experiments.
• Strong collaboration with internal and external users.

Responsibilities

• Develop and operate our photoelectron spectroscopy setup using a spherical analyser.
• Perform ARPES experiments.
• Support internal and external users of European XFEL in sample preparation and characterization techniques.
• Conduct scanning electron microscopy.
• Perform FIB milling and deposition.
• Carry out optical microscopy and other lab-based characterization methods.
• Collaborate on scientific projects involving sample characterization.
• Occasionally participate in shift work to facilitate user experiments.

Job description

The Sample Environment and Characterization group operates state-of-the-art user laboratories for sample preparation and characterization. The laboratories are equipped with a wide range of advanced characterization devices such as electron microscopes, an X-ray diffractometer, and a photoelectron spectrometer.

Specifically, for operating and further developing the electron spectrometer lab, we’re searching for a Scientist Electron Spectrometer Lab.

Position

• Develop and operate our photoelectron spectroscopy setup using a spherical analyser
• Angular resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES)
• Support internal and external users of the European XFEL in sample preparation and characterization techniques
• Scanning electron microscopy
• Focussed ion beam milling and deposition
• Optical microscopy and other lab-bases sample characterization methods
• Collaborate in scientific projects involving sample characterization
• Occasionally participate in shift work in order to facilitate user experiments.
