Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics is seeking an experienced professional to provide study support and veterinary care for research animals, including delivery of anesthesia and peri-operative care. You will manage records, collaborate with scientists, and assist with surgical procedures in a regulated, cross-functional environment.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree (Vet tech preferred) and hands-on animal handling experience, with strong organizational and communication skills to support in vivo studies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Animal handling and dosing experience.
  • Veterinary Technician certification preferred (not required).
  • Ocular research techniques and imaging equipment experience.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; safety/regulatory commitment.
  • Ability to recognize challenges and contribute to solution/problem solving.
  • Proactive, innovative, solution-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide study support and veterinary care for large and small research animals.
  • Triage weekend emergencies and treat as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Assist with or perform aseptic surgical procedures; suture; provide peri-/post-op care.
  • Perform diagnostic radiography/imaging and routine clinical pathology.
  • Administer injectable and inhalation anesthetics under veterinarian guidance.
  • Maintain accurate records (treatments, procedures, inventories, study data/protocols, reports).
  • Collaborate with PI/scientific staff, veterinarians, technicians, IACUC members, facility managers, and animal care staff; support cross-functional in vivo R&D.
  • Independently recognize and help resolve operational/technical/scientific study hurdles.
  • Manage study timelines/objectives; ensure data accuracy in corporate systems.
  • Communicate study results and data interpretation.
  • Comply with relevant animal welfare and regulatory requirements.
