Job Description Summary
The primary objective of this position is to use data assimilation to incorporate remotely sensed and in situ weather observations into next-generation atmospheric models to improve the prediction of the atmosphere, especially where it relates to aircraft operations. The Aerospace Carbon Solutions business unit of GE Aerospace is committed to helping its customers navigate the complexities of their non-carbon dioxide impacts on climate. Water vapor, gasses, and particulates emitted by aircraft affect the radiation balance of the planet and GE Aerospace is uniquely positioned to quantify those impacts from past, current, and future flights as well as identify engineering, technical, and navigational solutions to reduce those impacts. The person filling this position is expected to solve complex problems that require regular use of ingenuity and creativity, often in consultation with peers. They will have considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of various assignments while under general guidance of the scientific or program leader.
