Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics is seeking a Scientist II - QC to perform chemical analysis of raw materials, in-process and finished pharmaceutical products using IR, UV-Vis, and chromatography, following SOPs.

You will prepare and analyze samples, maintain laboratory records, participate in method transfer between facilities, and contribute to investigations of out-of-specification results. Education: BS/BA in Chemistry required; MS preferred; 3+ years of relevant testing with BS, 1+ year with MS.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Chemistry or related science.
• MS/Master’s in Chemistry or related science preferred.
• 3+ years testing chemicals/pharmaceutical products with BS/BA.
• 1+ year testing chemicals/pharmaceutical products with MS.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical analysis of raw materials, in-process and finished pharmaceutical products using written/compendial methods and material specifications; use techniques such as IR, UV-Vis, and chromatography; follow SOPs.
• Prepare and analyze samples, maintain laboratory records (notebooks/computer-based), document steps performed, and calculate/report results timely.
• Participate in method transfer activities between facilities/organizations.
• Participate in and lead investigations of out-of-specification (OOS) laboratory results (when required).
• Perform physical analyses using X-ray diffraction, DSC, and Malvern Mastersizer.
• Prepare/execute method transfer protocols; perform method verification/validation as required.

Scientist II - QC

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical analysis of raw materials, in-process and finished pharmaceutical products (including stability samples) using written/compendial methods and material specifications; use techniques such as IR, UV-Vis, and chromatography; follow SOPs.
• Prepare and analyze samples, maintain laboratory records (notebooks/computer-based), document steps performed, and calculate/report results timely.
• Participate in method transfer activities between facilities/organizations.
• Participate in and lead investigations of out-of-specification (OOS) laboratory results (when required).
• Perform physical analyses using X-ray diffraction, DSC, and Malvern Mastersizer.
• Prepare/execute method transfer protocols; perform method verification/validation as required.

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist senior scientists; remove expired chemicals/reference standards; calibrate dissolution apparatus, FT-IR, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, HPLC, GC as assigned.
• Standardize API as in-house reference standard (as assigned).
• Train newly hired lab technicians/Assistant Scientists on basic techniques/instruments.

Qualifications

• Education (required): BS/BA in Chemistry or related science discipline.
• Education (preferred): MS/Master’s in Chemistry or related science discipline.
• Experience (required): 3+ years testing chemicals/pharmaceutical products with BS/BA.
• Experience (preferred): 1+ year testing chemicals/pharmaceutical products with MS.

Compensation/Benefits (as stated)

• Base salary: $75,000–$103,000/year
