Job summary

Genentech in South San Francisco is seeking a Scientist 2 to support the protein outsourcing process, advance purification and characterization strategies, and manage weekly assignments.

You will perform QC analyses (mass spec, SEC-MALS, HPLC, LAL, SDS-PAGE, Mass Photometry) and interact daily with scientists, applying rigorous attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Biological Sciences with relevant purification experience is desired.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with 3–4 years of experience; Master’s with 1–3 years.
• Familiarity with protein/antibody analytical methods (SDS-PAGE, HPLC, SEC-MALS, mass spectrometry).
• Experience with AKTA purification systems.
• Ability to work independently in a collaborative team setting with strong communication.
• Excellent written and oral communication; strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Who You Are (Required)

• Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in the Biological Sciences should have at least 3-4 years of scientific experience, and applicants with a Master’s degree in the Biological Sciences should have at least 1 - 3 years of relevant experience
• Familiarity with protein and antibody analytical methods includes SDS-PAGE, Analytical
• HPLC, Endotoxin detection, SEC-MALS, and mass spectrometry.
• Experience in protein and antibody purification and characterization includes using AKTA systems.
• Demonstrated track record of working independently in a collaborative team-oriented setting, aligning with group vision and mission.
• Ability to work accurately and with attention to detail, operate efficiently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills.
• Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with other scientific staff.
• Proficiency with standard computer applications and scientific software.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge And Qualifications

Experience with Mass Photometry is highly desired.

A background in Mass Spectrometry is a plus.

A dedicated team player willing to work within a core facility environment.

The expected salary range for this position based on California is 87 000,00 - 161 600,00 USD Annual Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
