Areté is seeking an entry- to mid-level Scientist (Algorithm Developer) in Northridge, CA to join a team of scientists and engineers working on physics-based modeling, simulations, and data analysis. The role involves developing models, creating software, and prototyping algorithms with a focus on national security applications.

Ideal candidates hold a BS/MS in a STEM field, strong math/physics background, and solid programming experience in Python, C/C++, and MATLAB.

We are seeking an entry- or mid-level Scientist (Algorithm Developer) that has a strong background in Math, Physics, and/or Scientific Computing. The successful candidate will join a staff of signal/image processing scientists and software engineers that support the development of physical models/simulations, data analysis algorithms and scientific software. In this position you will develop physics-based models, create simulation software, analyze simulated and real-world data, develop and prototype new algorithms or enhancements to existing algorithms, and implement models and algorithms in software.
The successful candidate will have opportunities in one or more of the following areas: physics-based modeling and simulation, data analysis, sensor characterization, signal/image processing, object detection and tracking, computer vision, and machine learning.
This role requires a passion for solving challenging technical problems in a collaborative environment with dedicated and experienced scientists and engineers. This position will be based at our Northridge, CA office and is classified as a full-time, exempt, non-supervisory position.

Experiences And Background We Look For (required Skills)

• Active Secret Clearance

The salary range for this role depends on the candidate’s level of experience:

• Scientist 1: $90,000 - $125,000 [required BS degree or higher]
• Scientist 2: $110,000 - $145,000 [minimum experience of BS+2 years, OR MS+0 years]
• Staff Scientist: $130,000 - $165,000 [minimum experience of BS+5 years, MS+3 years, or PhD+0 years]
