Job summary

Pace Analytical Services, LLC is seeking a Scientist 1 in Pittsburgh to perform hands-on environmental analyses in our testing laboratory. You will analyze water and bacterial samples, document findings, and help maintain instrument accuracy in a safe lab setting.

The role requires a biology-related degree and 3–6 months on-the-job training for bacterial culture work, with on-site, full-time hours Monday–Friday. Pace emphasizes accuracy and safety in all tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry or related science field or equivalent.
• On-the-job training 3–6 months for setup and analysis of bacterial cultures.
• Ability to work in a lab, wear PPE, and handle potentially odorous environments.

Responsibilities

Compensation: $20.00 per hour

The salary for this position reflects a variety of factors. What You'll Do

• Clean, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, orother science related degrees- or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Candidate will provide documented 3 to 6 months on-the-job training for the set up and/or analysis of bacterial cultures.

• Ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment, including standing for extended periods, working around strong odors, and wearing required PPE (lab coat, safety glasses, gloves-all provided by Pace)
• Experience in basic analysis of bacterial cultures in an environmental or clinical laboratory and knowledge of Legionella species or Fungal analysis is a plus.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in a lab and office setting. Work is subject to chemicals, fumes, gases, noxious odors, and related items in a lab and sample setting.
