Job summary

A leading bio-pharmaceutical testing company in Portage, MI is seeking a laboratory analyst to perform physical and chemical analyses of pharmaceutical products. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and possesses 1-2 years of laboratory experience. Responsibilities include operating laboratory instruments, ensuring data integrity, and maintaining equipment. This full-time role offers comprehensive benefits including medical coverage, 401(k) matching, and is scheduled Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Job description

Job Description
  • Perform physical, chemical, and instrumental analysis of active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished pharmaceutical products (tablets, capsules, parenterals, devices, liquids, creams, and gels) and animal health products.
  • Prepare standards and samples for analysis; run the instrumentation independently—including chromatographic systems, Karl Fischer (Coulometric and Volumetric), UV/Spec, HPLC, and dissolution apparatus.
  • Execute method transfer protocols.
  • Conduct monthly maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Work efficiently, document work clearly, and perform tests accurately.
  • Ensure that the client receives quality data by reviewing laboratory data for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to GMP and/or GLP regulations.
  • Read and understand analytical procedures (compendial and client supplied) and internal SOPs.
  • Process data, generate reports, and evaluate data.
  • Train others in laboratory procedures.
  • Perform laboratory maintenance.
  • Communicate with vendors and repair personnel.
  • Write investigations.
  • Lead project/test areas and perform method transfers/feasibility studies.

  • Flexibility to work in all departments—including QA, microbiology, chemistry, and general support for laboratory operations—as workload requires and as trained.
  • Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or other related field, or equivalent directly related experience (two years of related industry experience is equivalent to one full‑time year of college).
  • 1‑2 years of previous laboratory experience.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
Additional Information

Position is full‑time, Monday‑Thursday 8:00 am‑6:00 pm, 4×10 schedule. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Portage, MI are encouraged to apply.
