Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Bench Scientist II to support protein purification, protein labeling, characterization, and related laboratory activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for routinely purifying recombinant proteins and supporting downstream analytical and cell culture workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Purify multiple recombinant proteins on a weekly basis using established protein purification methods.
- Perform routine protein labeling and final characterization of target proteins, monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), and antibody fragments (Fabs).
- Perform protein labeling using a variety of labels, including fluorescent dyes, biotin, and other applicable reagents.
- Operate and maintain familiarity with AKTA/FPLC and Agilent HPLC systems for protein purification and analysis.
- Assist with weekly Western blot experiments and related protein characterization activities.
- Support transient and stable mammalian cell culture maintenance, as needed.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and follow established protocols, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Manage multiple laboratory activities effectively while meeting weekly project timelines.
- Collaborate with scientists and laboratory team members to troubleshoot experiments and achieve project objectives.
- Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn new techniques and laboratory procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Biochemistry or a related scientific field.
- At least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience, with approximately 1–2 years of protein purification experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with recombinant protein purification.
- Experience working with AKTA/FPLC and HPLC systems.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Strong desire to learn and develop new technical skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a scientific team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with protein labeling techniques.
- Experience working with antibodies, including monoclonal antibodies and/or Fabs.
- Experience with fluorescent and biotin-based protein labeling.
- Experience with Western blotting.Experience maintaining mammalian cell cultures, including transient and stable cell lines.
- Familiarity with protein characterization and analytical techniques.

Education

This is a hands-on laboratory position requiring routine execution of protein purification, protein characterization, and related biochemical laboratory procedures. The role may also involve mammalian cell culture and collaboration with multidisciplinary research teams.
