Job summary

Arcadia Science is seeking a software engineer to join our Emeryville team, building web applications and data infrastructure that connect wet-lab and computational scientists. You will ship internal tools, design scalable data pipelines, and contribute to the AutoOpenRaman project within the Foundry division, delivering a UI and data layer for open-source Raman spectroscopy.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript; ownership of backend and frontend components.
• Experience building data pipelines for scientific data, including ingestion, transformation and storage.
• Strong AI literacy with familiarity with agentic systems and AI tooling.

Responsibilities

• Partner with researchers and product designers to identify high-impact problems, then architect and ship solutions through rapid iteration cycles.
• Design, develop, and maintain Arcadia's internal product suite using modern web technologies, building for scalability and a scientist-friendly UX.
• Build and improve data infrastructure that supports biological research workflows, from ingestion to visualization.
• Design and ship a scientific user interface for bench scientists, including sample management, run configuration, live acquisition feedback, and results review.
• Build and maintain agentic AI workflows to automate data QC, interpretation, report generation, and other repeatable tasks.
• Own the full lifecycle of work: scoping, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
