Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking an energetic software engineer in the Application and User Services group to design tools and workflows for science projects such as the Vera C. Rubin Observatory US Data Facility.

You will work with a team that supports global collaborations and modern computing platforms to enable data-driven discoveries. You will containerize applications for Kubernetes, build APIs to access large datasets, and advance data stewardship with metadata integrity

Qualifications

Design, implement, and support the applications and APIs used to process, manage, and serve scientific data across programs.
Experience with data-intensive workflows and containerization and deployments on Kubernetes clusters.
Familiarity with Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts.
Contribute to tooling and workflows enabling formal data stewardship across datasets.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain applications and APIs for S3DF science programs to access and process large-scale datasets.
Build data-serving interfaces and pipelines for petabyte-scale astronomical data.
Containerize applications and deploy on Kubernetes clusters following cloud-native practices.
Integrate applications with IAM frameworks to ensure secure data access.
Contribute to shared software repositories across S3DF programs.
