Job summary

Chenega Services & Federal Solutions, LLC is seeking a Scientific Data Analyst 3 to support the Injury Biomechanics and Protection Group (IBP) at USAARL, providing scientific, programmatic, and technical support to enable timely mission accomplishment in a flexible environment.

The role involves data acquisition, analysis, and management across instrumentation, imaging, and databases, with opportunities to contribute to research documentation and development of best practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in numerical methods programming, data acquisition, and MATLAB toolboxes (images, signals, statistics).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a state driver's license for field data collection.
• Obtain and maintain Associate Investigator credentials.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific analytical services for data acquisition, management, and analysis per approved plans.
• Develop and run analyses on large time series data using MATLAB scripts.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, physicians, and researchers.
• Develop draft test plans and protocol documentation for USAARL projects.
• Work under guidance of PI and team leadership, solving analytic problems.
• Perform data quality assessments and ensure reproducibility of results.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific analytical services related to data acquisition (e.g., instrumentation, high speed video, medical images, or engineering and medical databases), data management, and data analysis according to approved protocols, policies, and/or plans to ensure quality, accuracy, future use, and reproducibility of data/results.
• Acquire, manage, and analyze data (obtained from instrumentation, high speed video, medical images, or engineering and medical databases).
• Provide scientific analytical services related to data analysis, data scientific and engineering quality assessment, and data management according to approved protocols, policies, and/or plans to ensure quality, accuracy, future use, and reproducibility of data/results (e.g., by following scientific procedures, recording information, documenting research, and properly storing data.)
• Perform analysis on large time series engineering/research data by writing and/or developing algorithms and processing data through COTS and/or custom analysis software.
• Use, develop, and evaluate recommendations on Best Practices of data management, file structures, and relational databases.
• Develop and update appropriate analysis documentation, and store documents and data in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.
• Ensure that plans and execution of analysis meets all applicable regulations, guidance, and procedures.
• Provide scientific analytical services by applying the principles of statistics, numerical methods, signal processing, research, dynamics, kinematic motion analysis, and programming. Such application will require individual research, synthesis of research and mathematical literature, programming in MATLAB, modification and use of previously created MATLAB scripts, creation of batch jobs, data quality assessments, and handling large time series data sets. Additionally, documentation of analysis will be required within developed and modified scripts and codes along with scientific documentation such as papers, reports, and presentations.
• Provide understanding of data use and analysis needs to a multi-disciplinary team including engineers, physicians, computer scientists, database developers, data entry clerks, data quality assessors, and other biomedical researchers.
• Provide services related to the Injury Biomechanics RDT&E efforts, including the development of draft test plans and protocol documentation from literature reviews along with the collection and preparation of data for analysis and synthesis according to policy and procedures of the USAARL.
• Work under the guidance of the Principal Investigator, Team Chief, and Group Leadership, using knowledge and training to plan and accomplish research tasks and goals.
• Work within a research team with a small team of junior data analysts to accomplish RDT&E objectives, but work independently with minimal direction to solve analytic and technical problems.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• May work variable work hours to meet performance requirements (e.g., proposal and reporting deadlines, collaborations, and lab and field data collections), including occasional night and weekend hours.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a state-issued driver’s license for independent travel to restricted meetings and field-data collection locations.
• Experience in numerical methods programming, data acquisition, and use of MATLAB, including MATLAB specialty toolboxes such as work with images, signals, and statistics.
• Obtain and maintain Associate Investigator credentials.
