Job summary

Barrington James is assisting a growing medical device company in the imaging space with a role that sits between production, image reconstruction, and clinical research.

You will be knee-deep in clinical study data, checking repeatability and accuracy of imaging across sites and patients. You’ll benchmark pipelines as software evolves, ensuring improvements are demonstrated, in a hybrid Santa Rosa setup.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of hands-on industry experience in imaging or related fields.

Job description

I'm working on behalf of a growing medical device company in the imaging space (FDA-regulated, breast imaging technology) that's consolidating a role sitting right between production, image reconstruction, and clinical research. Think hands-on data analytics, not an ivory-tower research gig.

What the work actually looks like:

You'd be knee-deep in clinical study data, checking how repeatable and accurate their imaging is across different sites and patients. You'd dig into image reconstruction, figuring out how raw scanner data turns into a usable image and where that pipeline can get better. And as their software evolves, you'd be the one benchmarking one version against the next to prove it's actually improving.

What you'll need:

• 5-7 years of real, hands-on industry experience. This one's not for someone fresh out of a postdoc, they need someone who can walk in and contribute fast.
• Solid Python skills and comfortable living on Linux
• A background in medical imaging (MRI, CT, ultrasound, whatever), breast imaging is a bonus but not required, and honestly, if you've done similar imaging work in aerospace or defense, that translates well too
• Some exposure to FDA-regulated environments or clinical study data helps a lot
• ML/AI experience is a nice bonus but not the main event here
