Basic Functions

The teacher will plan, carry out, evaluate, and supervise instructional activities in a subject area for groups and individual students. The teacher will also advise students in community internships, work experience, and academic activities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop curriculum to meet developmental goals and instructional activities.
  • Use procedures to post syllabus, projects/lessons, and grades to the server accessible to students, parents, and the community.
  • Maintain a classroom environment consistent with established codes of conduct and conducive to positive learning.
  • Use rubric‑based authentic assessment methods to evaluate student progress and adapt individual programs to meet student needs.
  • Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co‑workers, supervisors, and other school staff.
  • Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Communicate electronically with students, parents, and other staff members concerning student academic progress, attendance, and behavior.
  • Attend conferences and workshops in order to further advance professional development.
  • Work cooperatively with other personnel to improve instructional programs and the overall operation of the school.
  • Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the school campus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly sit and use hands to find, handle, or feel.
  • Frequent talking or hearing required.
  • Stand, walk, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Require close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Must hold valid Indiana State Teacher's License or be eligible for a license for the corresponding age/grade level.
  • 2 years of teaching experience.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships effectively and professionally with families and students.
  • Experience developing and implementing curriculum.
  • Physical ability to handle frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and moving throughout the room.
  • Proven ability to maintain a safe and studious classroom environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement age‑appropriate curriculum.
