Position Title: Science Teacher and Assistant Baseball Coach (23-24 School Year)
FLSA: Exempt
Qualifications: Must meet AR licensure requirements
Reports To: Principal
Terms of Employment: A full contract for this position is 190 days, with benefits as specified in employee contract. Contract will be prorated based on actual start date.

Essential Job Functions
- Additional Assignment as Assistant Baseball Coach.
- Teaches skills, knowledge, and scientific attitudes through courses in science to secondary students.
- Create engaging lessons that develop student critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Plans a science program involving demonstrations, lectures, discussions, and student experiments; organizes laboratory activities for optimum learning.
- Provides for safe storage and proper use of materials, equipment, and tools.
- Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to equipment as required.
- Evaluates each pupil’s growth in knowledge, skills, and scientific attitudes in the course being taught.
- Selects and requests books, instructional aids, science equipment, chemicals, and supplies, and maintains inventory records as required.
- Prepare daily lessons and long-term teaching programs in accordance with state curriculum and guidelines.
- Teach using a variety of methods, including formal lessons, discussions, practical activities, experiments, projects, assignments, and excursions, taking into account the differences between individual students.
- Use information technology to assist with lesson preparation, teaching, and reporting set tests, exams, projects, assignments, and homework; mark and correct assessments.
- Evaluate and report on the progress of students, and discuss individual performance and problems with students and parents.
- Establish and maintain good working habits and discipline in classrooms and throughout the school.
- Ability to supervise extra classes when other teachers are absent and substitutes are not available.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development activities as assigned.
- Participate in other activities in partnership with parents and the school community, including parent-teacher nights, school council, and other committees.
- Actively utilize education technology.
- Assist in administrative support programs and the work of non-teaching staff in schools.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Enforcing rules and disciplinary action.
- Lecturing and discussing concepts.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.

- Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
- Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
- Effectively implement district initiatives.
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations.
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Remain current on instructional practices in education.
- Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting, and kneeling.
