Position Overview

BASIS Ahwatukee is seeking qualified candidates for a 4th - 5th Grade Science Teacher for the 2025/2026 school year! The role of the Science Teacher (SET) is to ensure exceptional education by preparing and facilitating subject-specific lesson plans. Subject Expert Teachers implement the BASIS Curriculum while tailoring topics to their expertise and passion.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject matter or 24+ credit hours in applicable subject with other degree.
• Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in subject matter or education.
• 2+ years teaching/education experience.

Role in Co-Teaching Model

Our elementary classrooms are co-taught with two teachers, including Subject Expert Teachers responsible for grade and subject-specific lessons, collaborating closely with Learning Expert Teachers to meet students’ academic needs.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and facilitate subject and grade-specific lessons.
• Provide high-level subject instruction in an interactive environment.
• Design effective lessons and assessments aligned with the BASIS Curriculum.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and build a professional community.
• Tutor students to enhance content knowledge and skills.
• Manage student behavior to promote a positive learning environment.
• Support non-instructional functions like “Early Bird,” “Late Bird,” and lunch supervision.
• Maintain consistent attendance and supervision of students.
