About ICS

Integration Charter Schools provide innovative pathways to college that fully integrate students with special needs. ICS strives to fill gaps in public education through a network of four schools on Staten Island, New York. Our guiding principles are teamwork, courage, community, and integrity, which we incorporate into our classroom practices. We emphasize a rigorous academic curriculum combined with social-emotional learning to foster resilience, self-awareness, and interpersonal skills, preparing students for success both academically and socially. We also offer opportunities for students to earn college credits through partnerships with higher education institutions.

Overview

We seek passionate education professionals to join our teaching teams across our network. We value candidates who are enthusiastic about our inclusive program and dedicated to serving all students in Staten Island. As a Science Teacher, you will be instrumental in creating inclusive pathways to academic and social-emotional success for all learners, working collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues to foster a supportive environment.

Responsibilities
Instruction and Preparation
  • Design and deliver engaging lessons across various subjects.
  • Address the learning needs of all students.
  • Plan instruction that promotes independent learning.
  • Show passion for learning and a growth mindset.
  • Integrate social-emotional practices into content delivery.
  • Customize teaching methods to meet individual needs.
  • Model passion for learning to inspire students.
Relationship Building and Student Support
  • Create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Encourage student voice and choice.
  • Manage conflicts and redirect behavior using ICS principles.
  • Use mistakes as learning opportunities.
  • Set high expectations for effort and persistence.
  • Celebrate student progress and achievements.
Community Engagement
  • Build positive relationships with families.
  • Maintain regular communication with families.
  • Provide tools and tips for family support at home.
  • Embrace diversity and foster an inclusive classroom environment.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Be receptive to feedback and reflective on practice.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and pursue ongoing learning.
  • Support school initiatives as directed.
  • Create an inclusive environment where students feel valued and belong.

Qualifications & Competencies
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education or relevant field.
  • Ability to become certified in New York and pass the licensure exam if not already certified.

Salary/Hours

Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Salary range: $66,732-$103,271 (dependent on education and experience)
