Description
Provides for instruction of students by developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials and presenting them using current instructional techniques which meet the needs of all students. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of students. Supervises students in a variety of school-related settings and activities. Monitors and evaluates student performance while developing and implementing plans to improve student performance. Maintains required records and follows required procedures and practices.
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certification with an endorsement in
- Science - DX (preferred), Integrated Science - DI, or Chemistry - DC, Biology- DA
- Must submit to pass a criminal background check
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, administration and the general public.
- Ability to work with a diverse student population
- A high level of commitment to working within a culturally, ethnically, and economically diverse environment
- High expectations of self and a commitment to continuous improvement and professional practice.
- High expectations of students coupled with the ability to inspire and support students as they meet those expectations.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn and apply behavioral and academic MTSS models
- A willingness to fully participate in and contribute to a professional learning community

- A strong belief in the individual worth of all students
- A desire to teach life lessons that go beyond the textbook and classroom walls.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver lessons aligned with Michigan Common Core Standards and district curriculum.
- Develop and utilize assessments to measure student learning and inform instruction.
- Employ data-driven strategies to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
- Leverage relevant technology to enhance and personalize learning experiences.
- Utilize the Google Suite for various educational purposes.
- Continuously participate in professional development opportunities.
- Implement best practices based on current research and educational trends.
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for students.
- Closely monitor individual student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators to improve student achievement.
- Speak and write effectively to deliver clear and concise information.
- Work effectively and engage diverse parents/guardians in their child's education.
- Communicate effectively with a diverse student and staff population.
- Maintain a strong understanding of current educational trends and research.
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt to change productively.
- Maintain a professional demeanor with reliable attendance and punctuality.
