Supersedes: May coordinate and direct the activities of teacher assistants.
Purpose: To plan, organize and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.
Licensure: Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a NC Teaching License in Science (Grades 9-12).
Performs other related work as required.
Degree in education or a related area that qualifies for licensure by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
Physical Requirements: Ability to use a variety of equipment, exert negligible force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, and stand or walk as required for light work.
Data Conception: Ability to compare or judge characteristics of data, people, or objects.
Interpersonal Communication: Ability to speak and/or signal people to convey information, and to receive instructions from superiors.
Language Ability: Ability to read various documents, prepare correspondence and reports in a prescribed format.
Intelligence: Apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and interpret technical instructions.
Verbal Aptitude: Ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, follow oral and written instructions, and communicate in technical or professional language.
Numerical Aptitude: Use of basic arithmetic, decimals, percentages, descriptive statistics, inference, and theory.
Form/Spatial Aptitude: Inspect items for correct length, width, and shape.
Motor Coordination: Coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately with office equipment.
Manual Dexterity: Handle a variety of items, with minimal coordination.
Color Discrimination: Differentiate colors and shades.
Interpersonal Temperament: Adapt to stress and emergency situations.
Physical Communication: Ability to talk and hear, and use telephone.

Salary Grade: NC Teacher Salary plus Local Supplement.
