FWI is seeking a Science Content & Digital Media Specialist to translate complex atmospheric science into engaging public content. You will write news stories, craft visuals, and shepherd material through rigorous review processes for accuracy and on-brand presentation.

The role combines technical storytelling with social media, web features, and print materials, requiring collaboration with multiple NOAA teams and a strong audience focus.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a technical or business discipline; advanced degrees may qualify for shorter experience requirements.
• 4+ years of professional and/or academic experience in science communication or related field.
• Experience producing science or technical content for digital platforms for federal agencies or research organizations.

Responsibilities

• Explain and organize complex scientific information into content for leadership and workforce.
• Provide technical writing and editing for public communication across digital and print platforms.
• Research, write, and edit audience-appropriate content for online, social media, and print channels.
• Develop themes and schedules for updates to external websites and social media.
• Create visual graphics, videos, and other materials for NOAA platforms.
• Monitor engagement analytics and apply insights to content strategy.
• Coordinate with NOAA teams to showcase mission across platforms.
• Advise on content strategy and innovations to increase public engagement.
