Job summary

FWI seeks a Science Content & Digital Media Specialist to translate atmospheric science into engaging digital and print content. You will write, edit, and produce graphics and videos for NOAA platforms, shepherding material through scientific review with audience-centered storytelling.

The role requires strong writing/editing skills, familiarity with digital media tools, and the ability to adapt complex research for diverse audiences across web, social media, and print.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a technical or business discipline; advanced degrees may qualify for shorter experience requirements
• 8+ years of professional and/or academic experience

Responsibilities

• Explain and organize complex scientific information into communication products for OAR leadership and workforce
• Provide expert technical writing and editing for public communication across digital and print platforms
• Research, write, and edit audience-appropriate content for online, social media, and print channels
• Develop themes, schedules, and content for updates to external websites and social media
• Create visuals, graphics, and videos for NOAA platforms
• Monitor engagement analytics and inform content strategy
• Coordinate with NOAA teams to showcase OAR mission
• Advise on content strategies and approvals processes
• Document workflows and organize files related to content development
