Job summary

Bakersfield City School District is seeking an Activity Leader, Science for 3.5–4 hour sessions to support the Extended Learning Program with hands-on science activities. You will help engage students, organize STEAM activities, and assist with instruction under supervision of the site administrator.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Evidence of completion of ten college units in science or related area.
• Current Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate and/or DOJ/FBI background clearance.
• Ability to assist in reading, writing and mathematics readiness.
• Knowledge of tools and materials for hands-on science activities.
• Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work with groups of students in instructional settings.
• Ability to organize STEAM activities and related Educational programs.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Interest in enhancing student attendance, behavior, and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Implement program guidelines of the Extended Learning Program.
• Assist in developing science activities for participating students.
• Work with individual and groups of students as needed.
• Collaborate with parents and staff to promote the program.
• Participate in inservice training as required.
• Assist with activities related to physical fitness, arts, recreation, and behavior.
• Assist in selecting and maintaining supplies and equipment.
• Develop lesson plans on instructional topics.
• Assist with physical education activities as needed.
• Maintain records and files; uphold confidentiality.
