Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a First Line Supervisor for the South Carolina Highway Patrol to oversee troopers in Oconee and Pickens counties. The role involves patrols, traffic enforcement, and enforcement of state laws, with leadership responsibilities in day-to-day operations and court presentation.

The position requires a minimum high school diploma and five years of CERTIFIED LEA time, plus SC Class I certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and patrol or investigative experience with a public law enforcement agency.
• Must have five (5) years of Certified Law Enforcement Service Time and six months as SCHP Lance Corporal or higher by the closing date.
• Must have SC Class I Law Enforcement Officer certification.
• Excellent knowledge of traffic law and ability to supervise others.

Responsibilities

• Supervises troopers and ensures SOP compliance.
• Reviews reports, citations, and statements for legibility and accuracy.
• Prepares schedules and assigns daily tasks.
• Acts as expert witness in court and directs enforcement actions.
