Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a Supervising Officer for the South Carolina Highway Patrol to lead patrols within Oconee and Pickens counties. You will oversee troopers, ensure SOP compliance, and participate in court proceedings as an expert witness.

The role requires extensive law enforcement experience, a high school diploma, and SC Class I certification. You will mentor staff, coordinate schedules, and maintain equipment and regulatory training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required and patrol or investigative experience in public safety.
• Minimum five years of certified law enforcement service time.
• Six months as SCHP Lance Corporal or current rank of SCHP Master Trooper.
• Promotional exam and interview within two years of closing date.
• Residency within required area and SC Class I certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervise officers and ensure compliance with SOPs.
• Review reports, citations, statements for legibility and accuracy.
• Assist in presenting cases for prosecution in court.
• Provide performance feedback and counseling to subordinates.
• Participate in selective enforcement and community safety programs.
• Respond to critical incidents and supervise civil disorder operations.
