Wearedream is seeking a passionate educator to teach AP Capstone courses at DREAM Charter High School. Originallyfounded in 1991as Harlem RBI, DREAM has grown to annually serve more than 2,500 youth across East Harlem and the South Bronx through a network of seven PreK-12, extended-day, extended-year DREAM Charter Schools and community sports-based youth development programs. Through our commitmentto rigorous academics, social-emotional learning, deep family and community engagement, and health and wellness, we create lifelong learners who are equipped to fulfill their vision of success in and out of the classroom. We dream big, as well, with an aggressive five-year plan to expand to serve 3,500 students across seven schools—growing our organization’s impact and leveling the playing field for all children. AP Capstone Courses: AP Research and AP Seminar
The faculty and staff at DREAM Charter High School are united in our belief that a more just world is possible. We are firm in our conviction that our students’ capacity to read, write, and speak in a compelling manner is an essential tool necessary to create change in the world. Our mission is for our graduates to be able to apply those skills in service of realizing their dreams and making the world a better place for others.
AP Capstone is a diploma program from College Board based on two yearslong AP courses: AP Seminar and AP Research. Rather than teaching subject-specific content, these courses develop students’ skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments, collaboration, writing, and presenting (collegeboard.org). As part of our AP for All philosophy, all DREAM Charter High schools students are enrolled in this course. As a culmination of their time at DCHS, each student will complete a research paper and will deliver a presentation and orally defend their research design, approach, and findings.
