Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs seeks a contract-style Wellness Coach in Gilbert, AZ to organize and document wellness activities, coordinate a Fitness/Health/Wellness Fair, and participate in school wellness councils and community meetings.

The role involves promoting health initiatives, submitting inventories and reports, and ensuring deadlines for paperwork are met within the school setting.

Qualifications

• Must be a professional employee employed at the school/facility site.

Responsibilities

• Must organize, implement, and document a minimum of 4 wellness activities during each semester. One must be for employees and the other three must be student related activities. Student activities may be held in conjunction to PE/Gym, Cafeteria nutrition programs, or school environment related. Wellness coaches will provide information to school staff outlining various wellness activities at the beginning of the school year.
• Must schedule and coordinate Fitness/Health/Wellness Fair at the school site. This will consist of coordinating a date and time with the Principal and participating organizations and communicating information about the fair and completing all paperwork related to event.
• Must attend a minimum of 2 but no more than 4 school wellness council meetings throughout the school year. School Wellness Councils will be determined by the principal and may be added to an existing council such as LSIC, School Improvement Committee, etc. The Wellness Council will review and select appropriate wellness activities to be conducted during the school year.
• Must attend up to 2 but no more than 4 meetings of the Mingo County Wellness Committee with with representative(s) from community partners and agencies and potential wellness activities will be addressed. These meetings will occur outside the regular workday. Failure to attend will affect amount of stipend.
• In addition to promoting county state and national policies, the wellness coach will support innovative health, wellness and breakfast initiatives along with other wellness initiatives.
• Must implement Initiatives/grant in assigned school.
• Must annually complete and submit a Healthy Schools Inventory/Assessment or other wellness inventory as determined by the Child Nutrition Director. Wellness Activity Reports must be submitted to the Child Nutrition Department at the end of each semester.
• Must complete all necessary paperwork and submit by the deadlines as provided by the Office of Child Nutrition
