Lake Forest High School District 115 seeks dependable Traffic & Crossing Guards for the school year. The role focuses on safe drop-off/pick-up operations, aiding student pedestrian crossing, and managing traffic flow during peak times.

The position is part-time (1–2 hours daily) aligned with school hours, with morning and/or afternoon shifts. Requires HS diploma, valid driver’s license, and training prior to hire. Salary is $30.00/hour with no additional benefits.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Licensure: Valid Driver's License required
• Training: Ability to successfully complete required Traffic and Crossing Guard training prior to or upon hire
• Reliability: Strict adherence to scheduled arrival times is critical to ensure coverage before students and buses arrive

Responsibilities

• Traffic Control: Safely hold and manage vehicular traffic to allow cars exiting the drop-off circle(s) to safely integrate into traffic
• Student Safety & Pedestrian Crossing: Monitor pedestrian crosswalks across roads, stopping traffic as needed to escort students, staff, and visitors safely onto campus
• Flow Management: Maintain consistent traffic momentum during peak arrival and dismissal times to prevent backups on surrounding streets
• Safety & Awareness: Maintain high visibility using provided safety gear and remain alert to traffic conditions and hazards
• Communication: Direct drivers and pedestrians courteously to prioritize active traffic management
• Emergency Response: Report traffic violations, safety hazards, accidents, or suspicious activity to authorities and campus security
