Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license.
• Physical ability to perform required work, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Knowledge and ability to use the tools of the trade and operate and maintain power equipment.
• Ability to follow written and oral directions.
• Basic computer (e‑mail, Internet) skills preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to relate well with students, staff and the public.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting.
• Testing may be used to determine knowledge of the trade.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine cleaning, maintenance and refinishing of hard floor surfaces.
• Vacuum, spot clean, maintain and repair carpet and walk‑off mats.
• Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, kitchens, cafeterias and other areas.
• Maintains assigned classrooms, offices and corridors, including lights and fixtures.
• Sets up and removes furniture for events and monitors supplies.
• Cleans and maintains classroom and office furniture; performs minor repairs as needed.
• Operates custodial and mechanized equipment such as carpet extractors and buffers.
• Provides site security by inspecting doors, windows and hatches and reporting defects.
• Assists in periodic replacement of heating and ventilation filters.
• Applies floor cleaners, disinfectants and finishes following directions for chemicals.
• Inspects playgrounds and parking lots and reports safety concerns.
