Job Title: School Store Manager

Reports to: Chief Financial & Operations Officer

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Role Schedule: 12-Month, Part-Time (Starting July 1, 2025)

Hourly Rate: $25/hour

Job Description

Ashley Hall is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented individual to manage its on-campus School Store. The School Store Manager is responsible for the daily operations of Ashley Hall's on-campus retail store. This includes overseeing inventory, maintaining vendor relationships, providing excellent customer service, and supporting special events and department initiatives through merchandise and sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the school store, including the store's cost center and inventory.
  • Maintain a selection of quality, gently used uniforms for purchase throughout the year.
  • Operate and manage the point-of-sale software system.
  • Maintain the physical appearance and cleanliness of the store premises.
  • Develop and manage an online version of the school store.
  • Oversee vendor relationships related to uniforms, spirit wear, and alumni merchandise.
  • Forecast and project merchandise needs for uniforms, spirit wear, and other offerings.
  • Oversee the distribution of pre-packaged and other food offerings.
  • Receive, check in, and label new merchandise.
  • Process transactions at the point of sale.
  • Stock and maintain campus vending machines, including those at the John's Island location.
  • Assist with book ordering as needed.
  • Support special school events or department initiatives requiring merchandise.
  • Collaborate with the Athletics Department on team orders.
  • Supervise a part-time employee and oversee any volunteers or student workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Retail experience required; prior management or supervisory experience preferred.Proficient in basic computer skills with the ability to learn point-of-sale and inventory software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to work with students, families, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing 50 lbs. or more.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities such as bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions related to inventory labeling and handling.
  • Work is primarily performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment, but may occasionally require exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

Employment Eligibility & Screening Requirements

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of all required screenings and clearances, including:

  • Criminal background check (state and federal)
  • Sex offender registry check
  • Tuberculosis (TB) screening
  • Drug screening
  • Verification of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Any additional screenings required by South Carolina state law or Ashley Hall policy

Time Commitment

  • Hours: Academic Year - Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • Hours: Summer - TBD
  • Must be available to work during Special Event days, evenings, or weekends as needed.
  • Schedule: 12-month, part-time (0.59 FTE) position, beginning July 1, 2025.
