Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a contracted School-based Speech-Language Pathologist to support PreK-12 students in New Jersey from October 1, 2026, with potential extension through the end of the semester. The caseload includes about 40 students, including nonverbal children, with emphasis on AAC and hands-on collaboration.

The assignment requires in-person service delivery, NJDOE certification, CCC-SLP, and experience with AAC.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (or similar).
  • CCC-SLP certification.
  • NJDOE Certification for School Service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and consultative speech-language services to a diverse student population.
  • Assess, diagnose, and develop individualized treatment plans with classroom staff and families.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and ensure compliance with state/federal requirements.
  • Support students using low-tech AAC devices to enhance communication.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide professional input.
  • Shadow the current SLP at start to ensure a smooth transition.

Job description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity providing essential speech and language support for students across PreK to 12th grade. In this role, you'll collaborate within an engaging school environment, stepping in to cover a medical leave starting October 1, 2026, with potential extension through the end of the semester. The caseload consists of approximately 40 students, including some nonverbal children, which presents a unique chance to utilize and expand your expertise in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct and consultative speech-language services to a diverse population of students, addressing a full range of communication needs
  • Assess, diagnose, and develop individualized treatment plans for students, collaborating with classroom staff and families
  • Maintain thorough documentation of student progress and ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements
  • Support students with low-tech AAC devices, enhancing communication and participation
  • Participate in IEP meetings, contribute to team recommendations, and provide professional insights
  • Begin the assignment with an opportunity to shadow the current SLP, ensuring a smooth transition of care
Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Masters degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or similar
  • Valid ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
  • Current New Jersey Department of Education certification (NJDOE CERT)
  • School-based SLP experience, with preference given to those experienced with AAC devices and nonverbal student populations
  • Commitment to in-person serviceremote and teletherapy options are not available
