Job Description

  • POSITION: Elementary School Social Worker
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, School Psychologist, or other licensed Mental Health Provider
  • Experience working with elementary school students in emotional and behavioral health
  • Experience working in a therapeutic and/or school setting
  • Licensed by DESE as School Social Worker and/or State Licensing Agency as Licensed Social Worker
REPORTS TO:

School Principal and Special Education Coordinator

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Case Management - Individual and group therapy with identified students
  • Consultation with staff including coaching and professional development on social/emotional curricula
  • Parent trainings and outreach
  • Willingness to engage with training in verbal de-escalation and non-violent physical restraint
  • Knowledge of multiple formal and informal assessment tools and methods
  • Training in trauma sensitive practices
  • Clinical crisis intervention, including assessment and facilitation of hospitalizations when necessary
  • Proven ability to collaborate with and coordinate the work of classroom teachers, teacher assistants, and other related specialists
  • Participation in TEAM IEP process
  • Other duties as assigned by the School Principal and Special Education Coordinator
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
  • Experience with data collection and reporting
  • Ability to support improved academic achievement for targeted students
  • Experience with therapeutic program development
  • Experience working with students who have a variety of disabilities which requires therapeutic intervention and social emotional learning
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Full time, 183-day, School Year Position.
