Job summary

The Wayne County Schools Employment Network seeks a School Social Worker for The Dearborn Academy, a high-needs school in Dearborn, MI. You will provide direct student support, assess social-emotional needs, and collaborate on IEP/MTSS processes to support learning and behavior.

Responsibilities include intervention, assessment, crisis response, and teamwork with staff and families. Requires MSW and LMSW/LLMSW licensure and background checks.

Qualifications

• Master of Social Work from an accredited Council on Social Work graduate school of social work program approved by the State board of education.
• Social Worker must have Full Approval or Temporary Approval and be working toward full approval.
• Clinical license – LLMSW or LMSW; approval issued through the office of special education.

Responsibilities

• Counsel students individually or in groups to support social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
• Intervene in class by providing social skills support and in-class interventions.
• Plan and prepare individual, group and classroom interventions as needed.
• Complete P.L.A.A.F.P. goals for MET/IEP meetings and provide input on child needs.
• Carry out Functional Behavior Assessments and support Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Coordinate RtI, attend Tier III meetings and arrange meetings for K-3.
• Carry out crisis intervention and maintain Crisis Plan updates.
• Maintain caseload lists, document progress, and liaise with families and outside agencies.

Education

Master of Social Work from an accredited Council on Social Work graduate school of social work program approved by the State board of education.

Satisfactory criminal background check and unprofessional conduct check as required by School Safety Legislation.

Must also have a clinical license – either an LLMSW or LMSW (and working toward full approval).
