Job summary

Vance County Schools Central Office in Henderson, NC is seeking a Social Worker to support students’ personal-social growth, educational planning, and career development. The role reports to the Principal or Counseling Supervisor and may supervise aides and clerical staff.

The position requires NC licensure in counseling or eligibility, a Master’s in social work, and a strong commitment to collaboration with families, staff, and outside agencies to meet student needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree a related field with a Master’s degree in social work or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Must be licensed by the State of North Carolina Department of Public Instruction in counseling or able to obtain licensure in this area.

Responsibilities

• Major Function: Program Planning – Assist students, staff, and families with critical needs; Track attendance; Split Location EO Young and Carver.
• Major Function: Counseling – Provide individual and group counseling services to meet developmental, preventive, and remedial needs of students.
• Major Function: Consulting – Consult with students, parents, teachers, and community personnel to meet student needs.
• Major Function: Coordinating – Coordinate all counseling services for students and assist with coordination and implementation of student services.
• Major Function: Student Appraisal – Accurately interpret test results and other student data.
• Major Function: Professional Practices and Development – Adhere to ethical standards and participate in professional development.
• Major Function: Learning Management system for Online Program – Attend trainings to be proficient in the management system.
