Job summary

North Slope Borough School District is seeking a Social Worker to promote student well-being by delivering direct services and connecting families with community resources. The role supports learning by addressing social, emotional, and economic barriers and collaborating with educators, families, and community partners.

The candidate will provide culturally appropriate behavioral health services, referrals, and school-based goals within a multi-agency framework across district sites, including

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field is required or preferred.
• Five years of work experience, two of which in cross-cultural service delivery, is preferred.
• Must have (or be eligible for and/or working towards) State of Alaska Licensure in respective field.
• Experience processing and assessing referrals and Exiting students from services preferred.
• Inupiaq language, History & Culture experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide culturally appropriate individual, group, and family behavioral health services.
• Provide resource support to administrative staff, teachers, and schools.
• Refer students for ongoing care and services.
• Establish school-based goals addressing mental health and prevention needs.
• Develop on-site and telehealth therapeutic check-ins for students and families.
• Collaborate with education staff and coordinate inter-agency linkages.
