Job summary

Summit Academy North in Romulus, MI is seeking a compassionate School Social Worker to join our Summit Family. The role supports students, families, and staff in a safe environment, collaborating with teachers to address social, emotional, and behavioral needs affecting learning.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Social Work, valid state licensure as a school social worker, and experience in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program.
• Valid state licensure as a school social worker.
• Temporary or full approval as a social worker.
• Experience working with children and families in a school setting.
• Knowledge of social, emotional, and behavioral issues that impact student success.
• Ability to work collaboratively with school personnel, families, and community agencies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services to students, such as counseling, crisis intervention, and group work
• Conduct assessments and develop intervention plans for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs
• Collaborate with school personnel to develop and implement programs that promote a positive school climate and student success
• Consult with teachers, parents, and community agencies to address student needs and concerns
• Provide support and education to families on a variety of issues, including parenting skills, communication, and community resources
• Monitor and maintain accurate and timely records of services provided and student progress
• Participate in school-based teams and committees to address student needs and promote school-wide initiatives
• Stay current on best practices and trends in school social work and related fields
• Maintaining a safe and positive environment for all students
• Maintaining effective communication with students, parents, and school staff
• Regular and predictable attendance
