Responsibilities:

• Provide group and individual counseling to special education students as mandated by IEPs, monitor IEP goals, and participate in student IEP meetings
• Provide counseling to general education students and monitor responses to interventions
• Develop and monitor behavior intervention plans, support teachers, and conduct psychosocial assessments
• Conduct functional behavior and risk assessments, communicate results in parent-friendly language
• Establish relationships with students and parents, participate in school planning
• Identify community resources for students and make referrals
• Consult with staff on behavioral and emotional issues, collaborate on strategies
• Provide crisis intervention services
• Maintain clinical records and submit reports adhering to standards

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in social work (exceptions in North Carolina and Ohio)
• Valid social work license for the state of application
• State approval as a school social worker in Michigan required
• Knowledge of special education processes preferred
• Experience with at-risk students preferred
