Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited university.
• Valid New York State Certification as a School Social Worker.
• New York State License as a Certified Social Worker preferred.

Job description

Come work in an exciting and meaningful field helping children with disabilities!

We are seeking a School Social Worker to provide an integrated network of student support services to help students succeed in school.

You'll do this by:

1. Serving as liaison between home and school by communicating with parents/guardians based on student needs and documenting interventions.
2. Assessing the needs for additional services, such as outpatient counseling or other community-based supports, and assisting students and families with the referral process.
3. Participating in parent-teacher conferences to assist teachers in handling questions and discussions about students' emotional and behavioral problems.
4. Collaborating with district liaisons, Committees on Special Education, BOCES staff, and parents on career and technical programming to support student adjustment.
5. Providing counseling services for students based on social, emotional, and school adjustment needs, including risk assessments, and maintaining electronic logs of counseling services as per IEP requirements.
