Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Social Worker to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will provide support to students, families, and staff by addressing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges that may impact academic performance and overall well-being. The School Social Worker will collaborate with educators, parents, and community resources to create a positive and supportive school environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments to identify students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans and individualized intervention plans and support strategies for students.
- Provide individual and group counseling to students facing various challenges, including mental health issues, family dynamics, and peer relationships.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to promote a positive school climate and address student needs.
- Facilitate communication between students, families, and school personnel to ensure comprehensive support.
- Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions for staff and parents on topics related to mental health, social skills, and crisis intervention.
- Connect families with community resources and services to support student well-being.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and interventions.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of school policies and programs that support student mental health.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school social work and mental health support.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
- Valid state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent.
- Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational or clinical setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of social, emotional, and behavioral issues affecting students.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including students, families, and school staff.
- Knowledge of community resources and services available for students and families.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in practice.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations regarding student welfare and mental health services.
