Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is seeking a School Social Worker to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs within the school setting. You will work with families, teachers, and administrators to foster a nurturing environment and promote academic success.

You will provide evidence-based social work services aligned with IEPs, including counseling and socio-emotional assessments, while collaborating with the school team to develop effective support strategies.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field.
  • Appropriate state licensure/certification as required for school social work.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, families, or within a school setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Help students navigate social, emotional, behavioral, and personal challenges.
  • Collaborate with students, families, teachers, administrators and school staff to create supportive environments.
  • Provide high-quality social work services based on individual needs and IEPs, including counseling and assessments.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER
  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field
  • Appropriate state licensure/certification as required for school social work
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, families, or within a school setting preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER

As a School Social Worker, you will spend your day helping students navigate social, emotional, behavioral, and personal challenges that may impact their academic success and overall well-being. You will work closely with students, families, teachers, administrators, and other members of the school team to help create a supportive environment where students can thrive.

You will provide high-quality social work services based on students' individual needs and IEPs. Responsibilities may include providing individual and/or group counseling, conducting social-emotional assessments, supporting students with behavioral or social concerns, connecting families with community resources, participating in IEP meetings, and collaborating with school staff and families to develop effective support strategies.

This is meaningful work that allows you to build strong relationships with students while helping them develop the skills and support systems they need to be successful both in school and beyond.
