Job summary

The Boys & Girls Club seeks a Youth Development Specialist 20 to oversee facility safety, programming, and childcare operations at our Fort Worth sites. You will ensure child safety, administer reports, and deliver engaging youth services.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, at least 6 months of youth experience, and the ability to obtain CPR/First Aid; you will be a positive role model and work during program hours.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Minimum 6 months experience working with youth.
• Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification; pass agency background/screens.

General Function and Description:

The Youth Development Specialist 20 is responsible for facility and child safety, administrative compliance, programming, and childcare operations. At school sites, youth receive targeted services in a safe, supportive environment from staff who believe in the organization’s mission. The Club experience focuses on three priority outcomes: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Positive Citizenship.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

Facility and Child Safety

• Accountable for adherence to all organizational health and safety policies and implementation of all safety practices and procedures at assigned site
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect members, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities. Abide by facility maintenance protocols and procedures to ensure compliance
• Accountable for reporting incidents and completing documentation within required timeline
• Maintain discipline, de-escalate conflict between members and/or others
• Obtain and renew CPR and First Aid certification by deadline

Administrative Compliance

• Complete all required reports and administrative duties on time.
• Collect and manage required data and internal and external reporting. Ensure accuracy of data and reporting. Ensure the effective completion of all assessment and measurement activities of programs
• Comply with all administrative policies and procedures, processes and controls
• Accountable for accurate and timely collection and review of membership application
• Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports, and data entry
• Accountable for utilizing all BGCGTC communication tools regularly and effectively

Programming

• Accountable for assigned programming and activities
• Accountable for quality programming and activities and implementing YPQ techniques
• Accountable for promoting and maintaining a culture of safety in program area(s)
• Accountable for assigned special programs and initiatives

Childcare Operations

• Accountable for providing excellent customer service
• Accountable for enforcing all security, safety, and health protocols
• Accountable for managing front door traffic efficiently and effectively
• Accountable for ensuring members are checked in/out properly utilizing childcare management systems
• Accountable for following all licensing requirements mandated by the State of Texas

Relationships

• Be a positive role model
• Maintain emotional control and make good decisions under pressure
• Represent the Boys & Girls Club in a positive manner

Attendance

• Regular attendance is required; arrive on time, work required hours/shift, and leave at scheduled time

NONESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Complete all other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
• Minimum 6 months experience working with youth

Minimum Qualifications Requirements:

• Ability to work during program hours
• Ability to be a positive role model
Ability to establish rapport and build relationships
• Ability to relate to at-risk youth
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
• Must be able to pass agency background screens and drug screen at any time

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to facilitate, teach, or instruct
• Bilingual
• Currently certified in CPR/First Aid
• Knowledge of various program areas such as healthy lifestyles, culture and arts, academics, social development and teen interests
• Work experience with or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club) is an advantage

• Work environment: This job is performed in Boys & Girls Club facilities similar to youth recreational facility or community center, public housing facility or in local school site. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and at times moderate or very loud. Work sites are located in low income areas, challenging neighborhoods, and growth neighborhoods. Position may require employees to work with challenging youth and family members; speak with or assist upset parents/guardians; may be exposed to emotional outbursts from youth or their family members, and at times work in inclement weather. Constantly supervise youth/members. May be exposed to infectious disease, must follow safety protocols
