Job summary

Spring Mountain Motorsports in Pahrump, NV, is looking for a Vehicle Maintenance Technician. The role involves maintaining the fleet of school cars and company vehicles through routine checks and repairs. Job Description

Maintain the fleet of school cars (Corvettes, Cadillacs) as well as company vehicles (Suburbans, Vans, Trucks, Rangers, Motorcycles). The majority of time is spent conducting routine maintenance and safety checks with additional repairs as assigned. Must be able to bend and lift up to 50 lbs. frequently each workday (tire mounting).

Key Responsibilities
  • Check and change tires, brakes, fluids, air filters, seats, radios.
  • Check engine lights, airbags, seat belts, seat backs, radios, and loose items in car(s).
  • Check for fluid leaks, glass condition, and loose bolts (under carriage, calipers, cam bolt, etc.).
  • Check tire pressures, punctures, tire wear/damage, and wheels.
  • Clean the shop and return the tools to the proper location.
  • Identify mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform further tests, which may include test driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance.
  • Perform tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensure that all critical parts are examined.
  • Properly and clearly fill out logbooks.
  • Replace broken splitters as directed.
  • Replacing windshield wipers and/or blades.
  • Swapping broken or replacement seats when directed.
  • Updates maintenance and repair logs for vehicles.
  • When available, repair body panels.
  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively alone and with others.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and attitude on the part of all employees in areas of responsibility.
  • General knowledge of equipment, tools, and techniques.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Have at least an intermediate knowledge of vehicle maintenance and operation.
  • Knowing when it’s time to talk to your supervisor about calling a professional.
  • Manual dexterity and strength required to operate hand and power tools.
  • Must be 21 years or older to drive off property and work in the clubhouse.
  • Must have the strength and dexterity necessary to perform tasks such as lifting, stooping, bending, walking, kneeling, climbing ladders, prolonged standing and working in adverse and extreme weather conditions.
Experience & Education Needed
  • A combination of at least three years of relevant education and experience is required.

General Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and understand its meaning.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at the knee to come to a rest on the knee or knees.
  • Lifting: Raising objects of 25 lbs. throughout the days and up to 50 lbs. occasionally from a lower to higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. Occasional lifting overhead is needed.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
  • Standing: Particularly for extended periods of time.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately and clearly.
  • The worker is occasionally subject to races and sports cars. For periods of time there may be fuel and oil smells and noise levels over 110 db.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
  • The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions most of the time. Occasionally work must be performed outdoors that can be in the heat and coolness of desert climate.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long periods of time.
