Job summary

Drivergent Transportation is seeking a School Sedan Driver to safely transport students from our Sterling Heights location. You will ensure on-time routes, maintain professional conduct, and protect student safety while delivering excellent customer service.

The role requires navigating with GPS, handling various weather conditions, and following client district policies. A Michigan Chauffeur Driver’s License is required, with a High School diploma or GED, and a commitment to safety and

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Michigan Chauffeur Driver’s License.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to operate a sedan/van and GPS.
• Ability to handle stressful situations and empathize with children.
• Strong knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Safely and reliably transport students according to client policies and state/federal laws.
• Manage and keep students calm and safe on board.
• Ensure on-time route operation and report any issues promptly.
• Assist passengers in evacuations during emergencies.
• Maintain interior cleanliness and professional appearance at all times.
• Complete required paperwork (timecards, route changes, repairs).
• Promote company goodwill in interactions with parents, students, staff, and passengers.
• Operate vehicle equipment, including wheelchair lifts and radios, safely.

Job Details: Job Location: Drivergent, Inc. - Sterling Heights, MI, Education Level: High School, Salary Range: $18.00 - $20.00, Support our customers by understanding their needs and creating solutions to ensure their students and families are transported safely.

As a School Sedan Driver for Drivergent Transportation, you will be on the educational front lines where it will be your job to safely transport students, exceed customer expectations, and ensure routes are operated on time. Successful drivers put safety first, are reliable, can succeed in a changing environment and are ready to work! These positions typically operate out of our own independent terminal location, and not a district partner facility.

Qualifications: Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safe and reliable transportation of students; including all duties connected to operating a school bus per all applicable client district policies & state/federal laws
• Ability to manage and maintain all students on the bus in a calm and safe manner
• Report to duty on time and maintain route on time but in a safe manner
• Physically assist passengers in evacuation of the vehicle in case of emergency
• Inform all appropriate personnel of problems, procedures, or incidents per Company/District policy
• Keep the interior of the assigned vehicle clean and presentable
• Present a neat and professional personal appearance at all times
• Complete all required paperwork (including route change sheets, timecards, vehicle repair requests)
• Maintain a professional attitude with parents, students, other staff members, fellow employees, supervisors, customers, and passengers while always promoting company goodwill
• Safely and efficiently utilize vehicle equipment, including wheelchair lifts, radios and emergency equipment

Position Requirements

• Must obtain and maintain a valid Michigan Chauffeur Driver’s License
• Ability to tolerate stressful situations
• Able to have empathy for children and persons with disability
• Extensive knowledge of traffic rules and regulations
• Ability to operate and navigate a sedan or van passenger vehicle
• Ability to effectively operate a GPS
• Ability to work outside in various climates and weather conditions
• Must practice defensive driving at all times and avoid vehicular and industrial accidents
• MUST be reliable and capable of working a partially flexible schedule
• Conduct all pre-trip and post-trip inspections as required
• Proficient in English sufficient enough to rad road signs and communicate with personnel

Minimum Requirements

• Certification/Licenses: Chauffeur Driver License
• Age: Minimum 21 years of age
• Education: High School Diploma or GED

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay-$18.00-$20.00, depending on experience.
