Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES is seeking a School Safety Officer to help maintain a safe, orderly environment for students and staff. The role emphasizes enforcing the district's code of conduct, supervising halls, cafeterias, and drills, and serving as a positive role model.

Qualifications

• A college degree with 1 year security experience or equivalent.
• High school diploma and 3 years of security experience.
• Valid New York State driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and compliance with district code and rules.
• Monitor student activity and intervene to prevent dangerous behavior.
• Supervise cafeterias during lunch blocks.
• Supervise during fire and emergency drills and actual emergencies.
• Patrol buildings and grounds to protect people and property.
• Provide information and directions to students and visitors.
• Question non-students and staff and explain rules.
• Control access of visitors on school premises.
• Keep records and write reports as needed.
• Patrol parking lots before, during, and after classes.
• Perform related duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
