Job summary

Fort Wayne Community Schools seeks a School Security Officer to patrol and supervise campus activities, ensuring safety for students, staff, and visitors. The role involves enforcing laws, investigating incidents, and cooperating with administrators during security events.

The officer must complete required training, possess a valid driver’s license, and be legally able to carry a firearm, with firearms training approved by the FWCS Board. This is a year-round school position.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• High School Diploma is required.
• Background in law enforcement or related field preferred.
• Must participate and pass all required training.
• Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and supervise campus areas to ensure safety and security of students, staff, and visitors.
• Enforce local, state, and district laws and policies; investigate incidents and report findings.
• Escort visitors and manage access to the campus; monitor and respond to emergencies.
• Assist with emergency procedures and preparedness plans as directed.
• Maintain detailed incident reports and daily logs of activities.
