Job summary

Wichita Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to safeguard students and staff across district facilities and events. You will patrol grounds, respond to incidents, and document security events in a timely manner while maintaining professional conduct consistent with district policies.

The role requires the ability to handle dynamic situations, communicate effectively with students and staff, and complete all required security training and state-mandated courses.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous security or law enforcement experience preferred.
• Must possess ethical and professional behavior.
• Must hold a valid Kansas driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide maximum security for individuals within USD 259 buildings and at events.
• Be knowledgeable of routine security and emergency procedures.
• Know and follow USD 259 policies related to properties, personnel and students.
• Patrol grounds by vehicle or on foot and report violations to authorities.
• Prepare accurate security incident reports promptly.
• Respond to principal or designee requests during disruptions.
• Assist in routine and emergency situations involving district properties, staff and students.
• Interact with students and staff with appropriate communication and people skills.
• Cover after-hours duties as required by the principal or designee.
• Attend required security and in-service training and mandatory law enforcement courses.
