Job summary

Joffe Emergency Services seeks a Director of Safety and Security to oversee the School Security division at a client site in the St. Louis area. The role focuses on protecting students, staff, and property while building safe, compliant programs.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in safety/security management, including technology systems, and a bachelor’s degree. The position is on-site with on-call responsibilities and collaboration with local agencies.

Qualifications

• Combination of supervisory experience and staff management
• Three+ years admin and program development, preferably in a school environment
• Five+ years in safety and/or security including management of security technology systems
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (substitutes for up to 2 years experience)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive deadlines
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with integrity and professionalism
• Excellent oral and written communication and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

• Serve as Incident Command for all emergencies
• Liaise with the local Police Department, Fire Department, and other law enforcement agencies
• Be on-call 24/7 to respond to and coordinate safety and security emergencies
• Supervise up to 10 Campus Safety Officers
• Serve as the campus' subject-matter expert on security and crime-related issues
• Create and issue department policies in compliance with laws, policies, and contracts
• Lead investigations of criminal or internal matters
• Schedule and lead required drills (lockdown, evacuation, severe weather)
• Advise on safety considerations for new builds and renovations
• Administer the Safety and Security budget and ensure cost-effective resource use
• Assist with threat assessments of students, staff, and faculty
• Own entry/egress security functions and no-trespass enforcement
• Ensure alignment with regulations and obligations
• Perform other duties as assigned by National Director of Security
