Job summary

Montebello Unified School District is actively seeking qualified individuals to join as School Police Officers. This open competitive recruitment will establish an eligibility list for temporary as-needed positions that may be utilized within twelve months to safeguard District facilities, students, staff, and property.

Under supervision from a peace officer, you will patrol grounds, enforce laws, investigate incidents, detain suspects, and coordinate with local agencies to ensure a safe school

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school, G.E.D. equivalent or higher education.
• Graduation from a P.O.S.T. Basic Academy, with completion of Modules I, II and III.
• Ability to speak in a designated second language is desirable; experience in a K-12 public school setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Patrols and enforces laws and district rules at district facilities.
• Investigates crimes, accidents, vandalism, and detains persons deemed criminal.
• Provides armed and unarmed defense as required.
• Prepares reports about crimes and incidents involving district property or personnel.
• Cooperates with local law-enforcement agencies and district officials as needed.
