Hartford Public Schools seeks a School Safety Officer to help maintain order and enforce rules across multiple campuses in Hartford. The role requires close daily collaboration with school personnel and reports to the school principal or assigned building administrator.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, passing the state Physical Fitness Test, and knowledge of school security and safety needs of students and staff.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Ensure public safety involving the control, maintenance, and enforcement of rules and regulations governing the order and security of the Hartford Public Schools. The position requires a close daily working relationship with other personnel. Work is performed under the supervision of the school principal or assigned building administrator.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.


• Must pass the state sanctioned standard Physical Fitness Test.


• Must have knowledge of issues related to school security.


• Must have knowledge of the safety and security needs of students, teachers and other school personnel.


• Prior Security experience preferred.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Must possess State Security Certification

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

HFSSPO 2026-2027 schedule 20: $37,355.-.$44,130 schedule 21 $40,996 - $48,430.
