Job summary

Harford County Public Schools seeks a part-time Safety Compliance Specialist for the Central Office – Facilities. The role develops and implements safety programs to meet Maryland Heat Stress Standards and fosters a safety-conscious culture.

Requires a related degree with safety experience or equivalent; CSP/ASP/OSHT certifications preferred. 18 hours per week or less; $40/hour non-benefited position with occasional travel to sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with 3 years of direct safety focused experience OR 5 years of direct safety focused experience with an A.A degree in a related field.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification is preferred.
• Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification is preferred.
• Occupational Safety and Health Technologist (OSHT) certification is preferred.
• Other relevant safety certifications may be considered.
• Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, MOSH, EPA).
• Experience in occupational safety and health industry.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and maintains comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Develops and delivers safety training programs for employees at all levels.
• Stays current on relevant safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Ensures the organization's compliance with all applicable safety laws and regulations.
• Assists with safety audits and reporting conducted by external agencies.
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
