Job summary

Washington Local School District is seeking a dedicated Student Monitor to supervise students during daily activities, ensuring safety on playgrounds, cafeterias, and crossing areas. The role includes enforcing classroom and campus rules, reporting illnesses or injuries, and participating in emergency procedures.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, obtain a Student Monitor Permit, and hold a valid driver’s license. Prior experience with children is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must obtain a Student Monitor Permit.
• Previous experience with children preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during playgrounds, cafeterias, indoor recess, in parking lots and across streets.
• Understand and enforce school rules; establish procedures to promote positive behavior; handle routine disciplinary issues.
• Report illnesses or injuries to principal; complete accident forms and required documentation.
• Implement proper emergency procedures for emergencies (fire, weather, hazardous materials, intruders, violence, illness).
• Inspect playground daily for safety hazards; remove or report hazards; keep area off-limits until repaired.
• Escort student walkers/bikers across street when safe; stay alert to hazards; no authority to stop traffic.
